ABOUT

My name is Boris - the man behind the brand and founder of our small studio. Design has been my calling for as long as I can remember and you could say that creating the Boris Stark line is the culmination of a lifelong journey.

While growing up I couldn't decide whether I wanted to be an engineer or an artist. Eventually I ended up getting an Industrial Design degree in Bournemouth University, which seemed to tick all the right boxes for me. However, during those years I quickly realized that I didn't want to just keep looking at my designs on screens anymore. All I wanted was to build my own products and bring my ideas into the real world.

I had always been into bags, accessories and watches, as I found they offered a perfect blend of style and functionality. Straight out of university I began experimenting with different designs, while going through a few boring corporate jobs in the meantime. After many sleepless nights spent teaching myself leathercraft and obsessing over patterns, I finally had a handful of designs I was ready to show the world.

That was the birth of the Boris Stark product line. At first it started only as a bespoke service, later growing into made-to-order goods that more people could enjoy. Today my mission is simple - to bring back dignity, excellence and innovation into the world of men's apparel.

Design Philosophy

"Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away." — Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

I came into the world of leathercraft through Industrial Design, not through fashion, so I was never really interested in trends or icons. My focus has always been on creating products that serve a clear purpose and are a delight to use. I believe an object's true beauty is achieved by removing all distractions and allowing for its purest form to come forward.

I've had many inspirations throughout the years, but my biggest influence is probably the works of Charles and Ray Eames. Their designs have become timeless icons not by drawing attention, but through subtle innovation and obsessive attention to detail. I believe this is one of the best examples of a perfect harmony between form, function, material and process. It's that exact principle that I've adopted in my own work — intricately beautiful and functional design, no more and no less than it needs to be.
